The Miramar Creative Centre was set up by Jamie Selkirk and Kristy Grant (Miramar Creative Limited) in partnership with Victoria University, where in addition to the tertiary study available - the team at Miramar Creative offer a range of Masterclasses and Workshops available to all.
Jamie is an Oscar winning Editor and also Co-Founder and Owner of Weta Workshop with Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor. Jamie has been the driving force behind the building, expansion and development of screen facilities in Miramar that have housed the production of so many iconic films made in NZ.
Kristy has a marketing and education background and established the Roxy5 short film programme for Wellington High Schools students with Jamie in 2014. This was the starting point in the journey to set up this one stop shop facility that has become a destination for practical creative learning and production in Wellington.
Following on that educational pipeline, at Miramar Creative our objective is to empower the next generation of talent by providing a range of Masterclasses, Workshops, collaborations and interactions that support not only practical and creative, but critical and strategic thinkers that have a versatile and transferable skill set to prepare them for the increasingly competitive and ever changing world in which we live.
The facility itself has world class spaces and equipment, including two studios, motion capture stage, central workshop, two editing suites, Mac lab, PC Lab, recording and foley suite plus meeting rooms, hot desks and a fantastic communal space. All designed and built but by experienced industry leaders.
Our two day Masterclasses or Pohewa, have been developed in partnership with Wrestler to offer industry led and in-depth insights into specific area's of the creative sector. Check them out on our Pohewa page.
Also, we offer Workshops at our Courtenay Place site - with our next Casting Workshop coming up in May. Check out more details on our Workshops page.
The Miramar Creative Centre is also available to hire, plus we have access to some great spaces at the Roxy Cinema in Miramar and in the centre of Wellington city on Courtenay Place and Tory Street - check out our Hire page for more details.
